The Master Builders Association of Western Australia has operated as a private sector, not for profit body since 1898 to support the WA construction industry. Our Geraldton Branch has operated since 1965 to service the Mid West and North West regions of WA.
Although the Geraldton Building Display and Training Centre itself is new, Master Builders already has a strong track record of assisting consumers in the region.
The Association’s high profile Building Excellence Awards have run in Western Australia for more than 30 years and have assisted many Western Australian new home buyers and renovators find builders, contractors and suppliers with a dedication to excellence and an independently assessed delivery of quality construction.
We now complement our awards programs with consumer information via our popular websites, www.mbawa.com and www.displayhomeswa.com.au. Our “Find a Member” service is particularly well used, as people can find a contractor or supplier in their region or within a price bracket.
Our Home in WA TV Show, that attracts 30,000 to 55,000 viewers each week, will also enhance the profile of the new centre from 2010 onwards. It airs on both GWN and Channel 7 in Perth, usually on a Saturday afternoon.
The Association can offer consumers a strong selection of builders, contractors and suppliers from right around Western Australia. State-wide, we have around 1500 member organisations, incorporating:
- 700 builders,
- 400 subcontractors, and
- 400 suppliers, consultants, and associates.
ABOUT THE NEW TRAINING CENTRE
The new display area will be co-located with the Master Builders office and the new Training Centre. This new training facility will help create a labour force appropriate for local industry needs and will work to attract and retain skilled workers to the Mid West. The training courses will help ensure that construction workers have the necessary technical, safety and sustainability knowledge to deliver world-class buildings in the Mid West region. Courses will include safety training, contract management, Building Codes of Australia basics, working with local government, subcontractor training, waterproofing of wet areas, project management, builders registration and much more.
